The Past 2 Weeks and Upcoming…

The past two weeks have honestly gone by in a blur, but a lot happened! After returning from San Francisco, I spun at one of my Friday residencies called Wara Wara in Annandale, VA. Its a chill Korean-American Restaurant/Bar with a fairly new DJ booth and sound system that packs a mean punch! I always enjoy playing here not only because it’s laid back, but I can revisit a lot of older and classic tunes that I’m not usually able to play at the bottle service clubs in DC and it also always me to test out some “on-the-fence” tracks to see how I can fit them in my future club sets. The staff there also treats me like family, so I can’t really complain about anything.

The following Saturday, I spun at District Nightclub with my homie DJ Ross Anderson opening for me. Another dope night, this one even crazier than previous shows, and honestly, I’m not really sure why, but we were both ON POINT with our song selection for the night and the alcohol was mystifyingly (is that a real word?) flowing towards unsafe levels of inebriation by the end of the night. After my set, THE HANDSMITHS and I hopped over to a nearby club with a secret after-hours party and I can’t remember the rest. lol

The following week, I had a rare Friday off and was able to see one of my DJ’s play at the party I book DJs for. A long time and respected veteran, DJ Lickashot was killin it at Temple Lounge in Arlington to my ears pleasure. For the record, this man’s tradition is to spin dope beats while taking shots of hot sake all night long. HA

Saturday was another epic night at District opening for my good homie DJ Phlipz! I dropped one of the most interesting sets I’ve ever played in front of a bottle service crowd and it just seemed to work during that opening hour. What songs did I drop you ask? Some Whitney, LL Cool J, Next, Bel Biv Devoe, Skee-Lo, Digital Underground, Hanson, Backstreet Boys, N’Sync, Lipps, Edwin Star, bon Jovi, Run DMC, Queen…I was all over the place!! And it was hella fun! Phlipz rocked the HOUSE at District while I hopped over to see DJ Crooked from Las Vegas in action. The man can kill it on the mic just as well as he kills it on the decks!

This Thursday, I’ll be heading to LA for a lil vacay time with two homies and on Saturday I’m DJing a good friends wedding in Pasadena at a private estate. Sunday, I’ll be at the Staples Center watching the Lakers go at it against the Heat in the afternoon, and then I’ll be on a plane to party one night in Vegas and get some gear from DJ Crooked’s store, KNYEW, and DJ Vice’s store, CRSVR.

Thats all folks! Hopefully I’ll be finished with EPX PODCAST 5 before I head to LA! Stay tuned!

San Francisco Weekend Recap 2/10-11, 2012

I had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful city on San Francisco this past weekend thanks in large part to my friend, DJ J-Trix, for hooking up the gigs. Most of my time was spent wandering the streets of downtown San Francisco and just taking in the air and culture of the city as much as I could. I stayed at a hotel on the corner of Kearny and Columbus, which just happened to be in the heart of Chinatown and near a strip of the local clubs that I would be performing at. Had a chance to indulge in some awesome Chinese food at R&G Lounge along with a few hole-in-the-wall spots. Bubble tea and snack shops are amazing in SF and highly recommended to anyone! The waterfront and fisherman’s wharf is also a great place to visit to catch some live street music and scope out some of SF’s beautiful piers, not to mention all the great restaurants established alongside the bay.

Friday night, my gig was at Apartment 24, on Broadway St. It resembled a lot of the more intimate but classier lounges I’m used to in DC which made me feel right at home. The crowd rocked and I have to give a big shoutout to Jason Lok, Ray Wong, James Feng, Caitlyn Chi, and the entire Apartment 24 staff for having me!

Saturday night, my gig was originally schedule to be at a place called Sound Factory, but due to some unforeseen plumbing issues, the event was relocated to Recess Nightclub, which I noticed on Friday was literally across the street from Apartment 24, lol. I had the pleasure of meeting a great local DJ by the name of Clinton Lee, and the staff at recess was phenomenal. Shoutout to Gabe Yee, Jasper Yuan, Beung Kwon, and Winnie Kwok of SynergySF for having me!

Haven’t put out a podcast in a long while so I thought it was about time. I’ve received the best reviews for this one out of all of my previous podcasts. Filled with dirty dirty bass! I would say this is very similar to something I would play during peak hour at a bottle service club. Enjoy!

Recent and Upcoming Event Flyers!

Since returning from by debut in NYC at the Marquee Nightclub, I was invited to DJ once again at K Street Lounge for the celebration of the Asian Lunar Year.  Tonight I’ll be spinning at the infamous District Underground in Adams Morgan, WDC! Tonight’s hosts will be none other than Phoenix Marie from Brazzers Entertainment (I’m pretty sure at least most of the guys know what sort of industry they’re involved in). The event is expected to sellout so get ready for a ridiculous night!

I am super excited to announce that I’ll be spinning in NYC for the first time in my life, and not just anywhere in New York…I’ll be blazing the decks alongside the homie DJ Tommy Diz (Varsity Team) at the world-renown MARQUEE! Shout out to my bro Gordon Lim for linking me up with the guys at Base NYC. Its gonna be ONE SEXY PARTY. #TeamEPX #Lezzgo

Weekend Recap & Birthday Weekend

Happy New Years #TeamEPX! I’m sorry for the delinquent post! I’ve been extremely busy having family over from all over the country and haven’t had much time to put out a new mix or such but allow me to give you guys a quick recap!

The New Years’ parties for me started on Friday, December 30, at Current/Rosebar in WDC. It was expected to be a slow night given the fact it was the night before NYE but it turned out to be a banger! Thank you to Ross Anderson for the dope opening set and shoutout to DJ Yez and Damien Daniel for killing it at Rosebar.

Next up was a massive NYE lineup: Opening Set at District Nightclub, filling 800+ people in a 500 person club, and then hustling over to K Street Lounge who also successfully PACKED their HOUSE to bring in the New Years! Shoutout to Z. Ali for the holding it down on the opening set until I got there. Lots of energy and champagne flowing! Dom Perignon tastes good =P

I will also be hosting my birthday party, fittingly entitled the “EPICLY EPIC DJ EPX Birthday Bash,” this Saturday at District Nightclub! PATRON SHOTS FOR ALL! It should be a CRAZY night! Once again, DJ Ross Anderson will be opening for me and covering for my ass if I get too sloppy on the decks. Its good to appoint a “DD” sometimes…Designated DJ that is.

Your Christmas Eve Party is at District Underground featuring my good friends Zubin Ali and Miss Jade from NYC! Underground’s Saturday night mayhem is hosted by STFU Inc. and the homie Rubens Cabral, who I gotta give a big shoutout to! Your favorite Go-Go Dancer and homegirl Angie C will be there to top this event off with a cherry! It’s gonna be a crazy night of partying to Electro, Dirty Dutch House, Progressive, and DUBSTEP!! YEA BABY! NO COVER, FREE ALL NIGHT! TABLE SPECIALS: $300 (plus tax+tip)  for THREE bottles of ABSOLUT, KETTLE ONE, or CIROC before 11PM !! Hit me up: 571-255-0518

Weekend Flyer Reel

It has a been a busy month already in December with a few disappointing cancellations last week but the holiday spirit lives on! This Saturday, I’ll be spinning at K Street Lounge, one of my favorite clubs on the K Street corridor. Be sure to hit me up for the free guestlist! Open bar until midnight!

Sunday I’ll be spinning alongside one of my good friends, DJ Phlipz, at the famed District Underground, hoping to set the stage and tone for a truly unassuming “INDUSTRY NIGHT.” Sweatpants, sandals, pajamas, and lingerie, are all acceptable forms of attire with super awesome drink specials all night! You also won’t be hearing your typical club night music. You can tell by the FLYER alone that this isn’t going to be one of your typical nights out ;-)

Redzone is a doozy of hard-hitting electro house with Top 40 undertones, then seamlessly transitions into some new hip-hop bangers around the 30 minute marker, then back up the ladder to end this HIGH ENERGY MIX CD! ENJOY!
